The Atala plant was established in 1909 by Angelo Gatti, who used to be the owner of famous Bianchi brand. In 1916, the rights for the company were acquired by Artale & C., and in 3 years Emerico Steiner became a new director. Initially, the Atala producing was focused on bicycles releasing, but in 1924 also started manufacturing motorcycles based on English components, JAP and Blackburne engines. The start of motorcycle production (124cc two-stroke horizontal engine) was felicitous, the models were successfully released. However, in 1934, manufacturing of motor bicycles was stopped for unknown reasons. In 1938, Atala was bought by Cesare Rizzato & C. The company kept releasing motorcycles and bicycles at the production facilities of the purchased factory. Since 1956, Cesare Rizzato & C. has been producing motorcycles of «Atala» models. As for Atala, it was named in honor of the mother of company`s founder (Atala Naldi)
