Laurin & Klement is a Czech manufacturer of cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. The company was based in 1895 by companions Vaclav Laurin and Vaclav Klement in Mladá Boleslav. From the very beginning, they released bicycles of their own design under the “Slavia” trademark. 1899 they started producing motorcycles automobiles. Pretty soon the company has become the largest car manufacturer in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. But for further development, they needed a strong business partner. In 1925 Laurin & Klement joined the Škoda concern.
